Daniil Charms was an extraordinary man, to say the least.
He was an early Soviet- era Russian avant-gardist and absurdist poet, writer
and dramatist who liked to write rather bizarre stories. But to make the ends meet
he also had a day job as a children's books writer. His children's works
were extremely popular in Russia but his adult works did not see light
until after his death in prison, kept and published by his friends.
In this project, we wanted to make an attribution to the irony
of the fact that he was a children's writer by taking a gory story of his called
Falling Out Old Women and visualizing it with children's book type of
illustrations.
